Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Paysage by Chaïm Soutine was auctioned at Christies in New York in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 180,000.00 – 250,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 140,000.00 (€ 130,463.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chaïm Soutine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Bœuf in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 28,165,000.00 (€ 25,618,519.19).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Paysage von Chaïm Soutine im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 180.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 140.000,00 (€ 130.463,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chaïm Soutine erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Bœuf im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.165.000,00 (€ 25.618.519,19).
