Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Opera Dog by Barry Flanagan was worth USD 176,400.00 (€ 164,383.56) to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barry Flanagan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nijinski Hare in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,451,250.00 (€ 1,684,421.98).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Opera Dog von Barry Flanagan war einem Käufer im Mai letzten Jahres USD 176.400,00 (€ 164.383,56) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barry Flanagan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nijinski Hare im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.451.250,00 (€ 1.684.421,98).
