Auction result misses estimated price range
In September this year a collector was able to acquire the work Ballerina with Violin, Swan Lake by Yinka Shonibare for USD 100,800.00 (€ 95,238.10). This price was achieved in the auction Post-War to Present at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yinka Shonibare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Lantern Kid, which sold at auction in December 2018 for USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Ballerina with Violin, Swan Lake von Yinka Shonibare für USD 100.800,00 (€ 95.238,10) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Post-War to Present bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Yinka Shonibare mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Lantern Kid beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für USD 325.000,00 (€ 283.694,13) versteigert wurde.
