This artwork by Yinka Shonibare achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in December 2018. In the (RED) AUCTION auction, the work Red Lantern Kid sold for USD 325,000.00 (€ 283,694.13) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. This high result makes Red Lantern Kid the most expensive artwork by Yinka Shonibare that we have observed at auctions so far.
