Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work #344F 6.29.05, 7.06.05, 9.02.05 Rossmann, from Failure Drawing series by William Pope.L. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,700.00 (€ 11,503.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Pope.L - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Eight works: (i) White People are the Beef of the Fire; (ii) White People are Hoi Vuc Vietnam 1965; (iii) White People are my Tears; (iv) Black People are a positive cancer; (v) White People are nice to their I, which sold at auction in April 2017 for GBP 21,875.00 (€ 25,976.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit #344F 6.29.05, 7.06.05, 9.02.05 Rossmann, from Failure Drawing series von William Pope.L zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.700,00 (€ 11.503,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Pope.L mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Eight works: (i) White People are the Beef of the Fire; (ii) White People are Hoi Vuc Vietnam 1965; (iii) White People are my Tears; (iv) Black People are a positive cancer; (v) White People are nice to their I beobachtet, die im April 2017 für GBP 21.875,00 (€ 25.976,94) versteigert wurde.
