Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait de Rene Crevel, from Feuilles éparses by Valentine Hugo was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,250.00 (€ 2,008.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Valentine Hugo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait d'Arthur Rimbaud in March last year with an auction result of GBP 1,042,750.00 (€ 1,236,297.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait de Rene Crevel, from Feuilles éparses von Valentine Hugo im April 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.250,00 (€ 2.008,75) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Valentine Hugo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait d'Arthur Rimbaud im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.042.750,00 (€ 1.236.297,48).
