This artwork by Stephen Prina achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in April 2015. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Portrait de Victorine Meurent (Portrait de Victorine Meurent) 1862, from Exquisite Corpse: The Complete Paintings of Manet sold for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,719.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Stephen Prina have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Blind No. 12 Fifteen-Foot Ceiling or Lower (Cobalt Blue/Red/Naples Yellow Hue/Diarylide Yellow) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 37,500.00 (€ 27,492.67).
