Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Phillips in an online auction held the auction Editions Contemporary: Online Auction, which included the work Cavaliers Espagnols et un Garçon avec un Plateau (Spanish Gentlemen and a Boy with a Tray), from Exquisite Corpse: The Complete Paintings of Manet by Stephen Prina. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,146.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stephen Prina achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blind No. 12 Fifteen-Foot Ceiling or Lower (Cobalt Blue/Red/Naples Yellow Hue/Diarylide Yellow) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 37,500.00 (€ 27,492.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Phillips in einer Online-Auktion die Auktion Editions Contemporary: Online Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cavaliers Espagnols et un Garçon avec un Plateau (Spanish Gentlemen and a Boy with a Tray), from Exquisite Corpse: The Complete Paintings of Manet von Stephen Prina zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.500,00 (€ 2.146,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stephen Prina erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blind No. 12 Fifteen-Foot Ceiling or Lower (Cobalt Blue/Red/Naples Yellow Hue/Diarylide Yellow) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 27.492,67).
