Despite a disappointment, a good price for Stephen Prina
When the work Blind No. 12 Fifteen-Foot Ceiling or Lower (Cobalt Blue/Red/Naples Yellow Hue/Diarylide Yellow) by Stephen Prina was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 27,492.67). Despite this disappointing result, Blind No. 12 Fifteen-Foot Ceiling or Lower (Cobalt Blue/Red/Naples Yellow Hue/Diarylide Yellow) is the most expensive artwork by Stephen Prina that we have observed at auction so far.
