This artwork by Simon Patterson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2007. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction, the work The Great Bear sold for GBP 38,400.00 (€ 56,983.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. This high result makes The Great Bear the most expensive artwork by Simon Patterson that we have observed at auctions so far.
