Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two-Cube Table by Scott Burton was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 28,800.00 (€ 24,427.48). Admittedly, works by Scott Burton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pair of Granite Chairs in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two-Cube Table von Scott Burton im November 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 28.800,00 (€ 24.427,48) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Scott Burton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pair of Granite Chairs im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 156.500,00 (€ 224.744,30).
