Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kudzu by Ryan McGinley was sold in the 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,380.00 (€ 13,393.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ryan McGinley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Alex (Giant Explosion), which sold at auction in November 2012 for USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,823.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Kudzu von Ryan McGinley wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Afternoon Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.380,00 (€ 13.393,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ryan McGinley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Alex (Giant Explosion) beobachtet, die im November 2012 für USD 37.500,00 (€ 28.823,98) versteigert wurde.
