RYAN MCGINLEY (B. 1977) Coley (injured) signed 'Ryan McGinley' (on a paper label affixed to the reverse) chromogenic print, face-mounted to acrylic 48 x 72 in. (121.9 x 182.8 cm.) Executed in 2007. This is number two from an edition of three plus two artist's proofs.
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ryan McGinley could be acquired at Christies in New York in December last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work Coley (injured) changed hands for USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,531.13) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ryan McGinley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alex (Giant Explosion) in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,823.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ryan McGinley konnte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art wechselte die Arbeit Coley (injured) für USD 1.638,00 (€ 1.531,13) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ryan McGinley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alex (Giant Explosion) im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 28.823,98).
