Upper estimate price exceeded by 75 %.
This artwork by Piet Mondrian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Modern Day Auction auction, the work The Weavers' House sold for USD 315,000.00 (€ 293,542.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
