Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in New York held the auction 20th Century Evening Sale, which included the work Composition with Double Line and Yellow (unfinished) by Piet Mondrian. The price achieved of USD 6,300,000.00 (€ 6,102,877.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000,000.00 – 8,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Piet Mondrian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Composition with Double Line and Yellow (unfinished) von Piet Mondrian zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 6.300.000,00 (€ 6.102.877,07) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000.000,00 – 8.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Piet Mondrian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.565.000,00 (€ 45.993.269,06).
