Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Etoile pour folie no. 2 by Philippe Cognée was auctioned at Phillips in London in April 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,362.33). Admittedly, works by Philippe Cognée have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vanité No. 6 in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 37,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Etoile pour folie no. 2 von Philippe Cognée im April 2019 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.362,33) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philippe Cognée auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vanité No. 6 im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 37.500,00.
