Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Water Let in on a Field of Alfalfa by Maxfield Parrish was sold in the Modern Day Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 252,000.00 (€ 234,833.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maxfield Parrish achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hilltop in November last year with an auction result of USD 6,660,000.00 (€ 6,451,612.90).
