This artwork by Maxfield Parrish achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2019. In the American Art auction, the work Cleopatra sold for USD 2,300,000.00 (€ 2,087,303.75) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maxfield Parrish - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hilltop, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 6,660,000.00 (€ 6,451,612.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 92 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Maxfield Parrish erzielte im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Cleopatra für USD 2.300.000,00 (€ 2.087.303,75) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Maxfield Parrish mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hilltop beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 6.660.000,00 (€ 6.451.612,90) versteigert wurde.
