Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Matthew Wong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work The Edge sold for USD 2,107,000.00 (€ 1,963,470.32) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Wong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Night Watcher, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 5,897,150.00 (€ 5,495,433.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Wong erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Day Auction wurde die Arbeit The Edge für USD 2.107.000,00 (€ 1.963.470,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 800.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Matthew Wong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Night Watcher beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 5.897.150,00 (€ 5.495.433,79) versteigert wurde.
