Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Painter by Matthew Wong was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in March this year. The price achieved of HKD 3,810,000.00 (€ 446,112.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Wong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Night Watcher in May last year with an auction result of USD 5,897,150.00 (€ 5,495,433.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Painter von Matthew Wong wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 3.810.000,00 (€ 446.112,03) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Wong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Night Watcher im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.897.150,00 (€ 5.495.433,79).
