Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Blue Tree by Matthew Wong. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 431,800.00 (€ 395,856.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Wong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Night Watcher in May last year with an auction result of USD 5,897,150.00 (€ 5,495,433.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blue Tree von Matthew Wong zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 431.800,00 (€ 395.856,25) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Wong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Night Watcher im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.897.150,00 (€ 5.495.433,79).
