Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Matthew Ritchie could be acquired at Christies in New York in November 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction, the work After Lives changed hands for USD 74,500.00 (€ 57,263.64) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matthew Ritchie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Big Life oil and ink on canvas 88 x 154 in. (223.5 x 391.2 cm.) Executed in 2002. The Essential Diagrams 12 vinyl decals dimensions variable Executed in 2002. This work is number nine from an edition of twelve., which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 289,000.00 (€ 196,759.26).
