Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Matthew Ritchie could be acquired at Christies in New York in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work Anti-City changed hands for USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,645.36) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Ritchie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Big Life oil and ink on canvas 88 x 154 in. (223.5 x 391.2 cm.) Executed in 2002. The Essential Diagrams 12 vinyl decals dimensions variable Executed in 2002. This work is number nine from an edition of twelve. in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 289,000.00 (€ 196,759.26).
