Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Matthew Barney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Cremaster 3: The Five Points of Fellowship sold for USD 35,280.00 (€ 32,876.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Matthew Barney erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Cremaster 3: The Five Points of Fellowship für USD 35.280,00 (€ 32.876,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
