Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (from CREMASTER 3) by Matthew Barney was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 816.00 (€ 762.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Barney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (from CREMASTER 3) von Matthew Barney kam im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 816,00 (€ 762,76) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Barney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
