Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grand Master by Matthew Barney was sold in the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II auction at Christies in New York in May this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 119,700.00 (€ 112,352.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew Barney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,205,000.00 (€ 883,431.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Grand Master von Matthew Barney wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 119.700,00 (€ 112.352,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Barney auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Drawing Restraint 8: Condition 2003 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.205.000,00 (€ 883.431,09).
