Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ziggy Stardust by Mark Handforth was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 30,000.00 (€ 26,942.07). Admittedly, works by Mark Handforth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bent Pipe in February 2007 with an auction result of USD 198,000.00 (€ 149,659.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ziggy Stardust von Mark Handforth im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 30.000,00 (€ 26.942,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mark Handforth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bent Pipe im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 198.000,00 (€ 149.659,86).
