Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2015 Phillips in London held the auction Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included this untitled work by Mark Handforth. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 38,465.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Handforth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bent Pipe, which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 149,659.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2015 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mark Handforth zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 38.465,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Mark Handforth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bent Pipe beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 149.659,86) versteigert wurde.
