In July 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Starman by Mark Handforth. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 40,000.00 (€ 56,706.57), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Handforth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bent Pipe, which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 149,659.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2015 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Starman von Mark Handforth zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 56.706,57) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mark Handforth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bent Pipe beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 149.659,86) versteigert wurde.
