It achieved a price of USD 10,000.00 (€ 7,671.06), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lothar Hempel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Casanova, which sold at auction in October 2010 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,295.24).

Die Arbeit Schattenblume von Lothar Hempel wurde im November 2010 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Part II bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 7.671,06) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Für andere Arbeiten von Lothar Hempel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Casanova beobachtet, die im Oktober 2010 für GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.295,24) versteigert wurde.
