Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included this untitled work by Lee Bontecou. The price achieved of USD 30,240.00 (€ 25,963.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Bontecou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Lee Bontecou zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 30.240,00 (€ 25.963,77) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Bontecou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.690.000,00 (€ 8.156.560,92).
