Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Kes Zapkus was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 188.00 (€ 165.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kes Zapkus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fireworks in April 2011 with an auction result of EUR 6,875.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Kes Zapkus im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 188,00 (€ 165,90) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kes Zapkus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fireworks im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 6.875,00.
