This artwork by John Newman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2005. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Sotto Voce sold for USD 1,440.00 (€ 1,194.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800.00. Admittedly, works by John Newman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tolled Belle in September 2015 with an auction result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,958.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Newman erzielte im September 2005 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Sotto Voce für USD 1.440,00 (€ 1.194,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Newman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tolled Belle im September 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.958,97).
