Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Double Drawn by John Newman was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 700.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 180.00 (€ 149.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Newman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tolled Belle in September 2015 with an auction result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,958.97).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Double Drawn von John Newman im September 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 180,00 (€ 149,28) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Newman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tolled Belle im September 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.958,97).
