Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Napoléon by John Latham was worth GBP 52,500.00 (€ 59,774.15) to a buyer in March 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Latham; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Triptych 1954 sold at auction in July 2008 with the realized price of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).
