Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unspecified Material by John Latham was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,852.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Latham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Triptych 1954, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).

Die Arbeit Unspecified Material von John Latham wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 30.240,00 (€ 35.852,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Latham mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Triptych 1954 beobachtet, die im Juli 2008 für GBP 79.250,00 (€ 100.688,02) versteigert wurde.
