Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Global Village 37-48 by John Cage. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,715.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Cage achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The First Meeting of the Satie Society in March 2011 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 82,140.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2020 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Global Village 37-48 von John Cage zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.715,81) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Cage erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The First Meeting of the Satie Society im März 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 82.140,59).
