Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Madame Curie 2 by Jennifer Steinkamp was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 37,500.00 (€ 30,438.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jennifer Steinkamp - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Judy Crook, which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 118,750.00 (€ 87,060.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Madame Curie 2 von Jennifer Steinkamp kam im März 2018 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 35.000,00 – 45.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 30.438,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jennifer Steinkamp mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Judy Crook beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für USD 118.750,00 (€ 87.060,12) versteigert wurde.
