Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hide The Knives by Jay Davis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,835.08). Other works by Jay Davis have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2010 by the work It’s Time to Go at USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,084.73).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Hide The Knives von Jay Davis im September 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 4.835,08) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Jay Davis wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2010 die Arbeit It’s Time to Go mit USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.084,73).
