This artwork by James Lee Byars achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May 2015. In the Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work without title sold for USD 125,000.00 (€ 113,698.38) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Lee Byars have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Figure of Death in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 761,000.00 (€ 692,195.74).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von James Lee Byars erzielte im Mai 2015 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 125.000,00 (€ 113.698,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Lee Byars auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Figure of Death im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 761.000,00 (€ 692.195,74).
