Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Compositie by James Lee Byars was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,632.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Lee Byars achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Figure of Death in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 761,000.00 (€ 692,195.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Compositie von James Lee Byars kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.632,09) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Lee Byars erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Figure of Death im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 761.000,00 (€ 692.195,74).
