Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Session, which included the work Slit Moon by James Lee Byars. The price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 36,770.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Lee Byars achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Figure of Death in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 761,000.00 (€ 692,195.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Slit Moon von James Lee Byars zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 36.770,89) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Lee Byars erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Figure of Death im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 761.000,00 (€ 692.195,74).
