Auction result misses estimated price range
In April last year a collector was able to acquire this work without title by James Lee Byars for EUR 2,520.00. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Curated at Sothebys in Paris and was even below the estimate range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Lee Byars achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Figure of Death in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 761,000.00 (€ 692,195.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler diese Arbeit ohne Titel von James Lee Byars für EUR 2.520,00 erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in Paris erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Lee Byars erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Figure of Death im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 761.000,00 (€ 692.195,74).
