In September 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Capture, from The Life of Toussaint L'Ouverture by Jacob Lawrence. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 8,810.57), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Capture, from The Life of Toussaint L'Ouverture von Jacob Lawrence zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 8.810,57) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
