Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Pentecost by Jacob Lawrence was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in January 2024. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,024.00 (€ 894.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Pentecost von Jacob Lawrence wurde im Januar 2024 in der Auktion Prints & Multiples bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.024,00 (€ 894,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
