Description
JACOB LAWRENCE (1917-2000) New York in Transit I screenprint in colors, on Rising Rag paper, 1998, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 14/50 (there were also five artist's proofs), published by the Jacob Lawrence Catalogue Raisonné Project, Seattle, with margins, framed Image: 12 x 36 in. (305 x 914 mm.) Sheet: 20 x 39 7 ⁄ 8 in. (508 x 1013 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work New York in Transit I by Jacob Lawrence was auctioned at Christies in July this year. The price achieved of USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,001.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit New York in Transit I von Jacob Lawrence kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.410,00 (€ 4.001,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
