JACOB LAWRENCE (1917-2000) Ten Builders, from The Builders Suite etching with aquatint in colors, on Somerset paper, 1996, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 63/65 (there were also six artist's proofs), published by the Jacob Lawrence Catalogue Raisonné Project, Seattle, with full margins, in generally very good condition, framed Image: 10 7 ⁄ 8 x 16 7 ⁄ 8 in. (276 x 429 mm.) Sheet: 19 5 ⁄ 8 x 24 3 ⁄ 4 in. (499 x 629 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ten Builders, from The Builders Suite by Jacob Lawrence was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in July this year. The price achieved of USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,430.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Ten Builders, from The Builders Suite von Jacob Lawrence wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.430,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
