Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Hugo McCloud achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2016. In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work Black Thought sold for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,517.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugo McCloud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work To Be Titled, 2014, which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 75,312.50 (€ 65,053.55).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Hugo McCloud erzielte im März 2016 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wurde die Arbeit Black Thought für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.517,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Hugo McCloud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit To Be Titled, 2014 beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 75.312,50 (€ 65.053,55) versteigert wurde.
