Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work To the Sky I Looked for the Path to Follow-Sequence Series 4 of 9 by Hugo McCloud was auctioned at Christies in New York in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,225.17). Admittedly, works by Hugo McCloud have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work To Be Titled, 2014 in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 75,312.50 (€ 65,053.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit To the Sky I Looked for the Path to Follow-Sequence Series 4 of 9 von Hugo McCloud im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 17.640,00 (€ 16.225,17) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hugo McCloud auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit To Be Titled, 2014 im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 75.312,50 (€ 65.053,55).
