Upper estimate price exceeded by 38 %.
The work The Terra Nova At The Ice-Foot, Cape Evans by Herbert George Ponting was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2016. It achieved a price of USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,009.09), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 38%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert George Ponting achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59).
